The different ages of your face
The face tends to age in jumps and often people notice that significant changes has occurred in a relatively short period of time. In many cases this can be associated with illness or high levels of stress.
The attached illustrations illustrate how the face changes with age. These occur in 3 main areas:
- The skin and subcutaneous tissue which loose volume and become thinner. This occurs particularly around the mouth and results in the loss of the gently rounded contours characteristic of youth. These changes are reversed by specialised skin care regimes and where appropriate restoration of the lost volume.
- The soft tissues of the face descend over time due to the effects of gravity. These changes are best addressed by replacing the tissue in its original position. This is usually performed with surgery which tightens and defines the cheeks, jaw line and neck.
- To achieve a natural balanced appearance it is often beneficial to reduce deep lines caused by overactive muscle contraction. This is usually performed with muscle relaxing injections in the frown areas between the eyebrows, forehead and crows feet regions.
Each persons face is individual and it is therefore very important to analyse each of the main areas and develop a bespoke treatment plan.
